Durbanville wine tour
Discover the hidden gems
Durbanville wine tour (Full day)
Sip your way through this inviting valley consisting of 12 wine estates. Slightly off the beaten track just 25 minutes from Cape town lies Durbanville. Steeped in history, it started out as nothing more than an outpost for tired travellers between Stellenbosch and Greenmarket square in central Cape town.
Farms that used to produce wheat for the Dutch East India Company in the late 1600s now produce world class wines most notably Sauvignon blanc having earned the nickname “Sauvignon blanc country”
“The nutrient rich clay soils complimented by the gentle, cool Atlantic sea breeze provides perfect conditions for white wines to be produced”.
Here rows of tour busses are scarce as these boutique wineries are frequented mostly by locals and the few tourists that have done their research. Expect to rub shoulders with friendly locals in beautiful surroundings. Each winery has a distinctly different look and feel, so expect a day full of tantalising tastes and sights..
Visit the boutique winery that inspired Simon van der Stel to create his retirement dream “Groot Constantia”
